Handy Tips to keep your carpets and rugs clean

Friday, May 28th, 2010

With all the holiday entertaining the last two months, it’s likely something was spilled on your carpet or dirt was tracked into your home. There are steps you can take to minimize damage and to increase the likelihood of your carpet looking like it did after it was last cleaned. As we’ve mentioned before, vacuuming often is the single most important thing a homeowner can do. It’s a good idea to have walk-off mats at all the doors leading from the outside of your home.

It’s vital to clean up spills immediately. The bottle of Spot Out we leave when we clean your carpets does a wonderful job on spots and it’s very safe for your rugs and carpets. Just pour a little of the product on the spot, rub it gently into the carpet with your finger tips and blot with a white rag. Repeat till the stain is gone.

Have your carpets cleaned professionally by us and remember, just because you can’t see a spill or dirt doesn’t mean they won’t cause problems in the future.

“It is no mystery that first impressions matter. As the saying goes “you do not get a second chance to make a first impression” so when it comes to selling your home why wouldn‘t homeowners want to consider this important factor?
“First area of importance is the sidewalk, steps and front door. So many times I see dirty front doors with cobwebs everywhere. The buyer has not even walked inside yet! Imagine what the mindset is before they even walk into your home. If you blow the first impression you are likely to impact the showing appointment in a negative manner.  You want to do everything you can to make sure your home is on the buyers “list” to seriously consider for purchase.”
He continues, “The next thing is to make sure that the siding of your home is clean. Siding that is dirty will surely be noticed.” With our system, even the windows are left sparkling clean. Inside the home, Hardwoods and Carpet will also stand out to potential buyers, friends and neighbors. As you, our clients have told us – no one cleans carpet so thoroughly and carefully as Blueagle.
This same realtor said  “Cleaning the Inside and Outside of your home yields an 8 to 1 ROI when it sells.” Therefore, it’s actually the best investment a seller can make. Similarly, well-kept homes increase value for everyone in the neighborhood. This newsletter may be of interest to your HOA President for this very reason.
Make sure these things are in tip top shape and you will make a positive first impression on buyers, agents & your guests! Our cleaning will make a nice impression on you too!

Clean Carpets Reduce Indoor Air Pollution

You’ve heard the hype about indoor air being more polluted than outdoor air. Well, it’s true. The  main reason is because indoor air is trapped. Rarely does it get completely replaced. Outdoor air on the other hand gets blown away and new cleaner air replaces it.

Trapped indoor air gets pollutants in it from her carpet. She drags them in and they get lodged in her carpet. Then when someone walks over them, they get re-dispersed into her air and she and her family breathe them. Over and over. That’s why indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air.

There is a way out of this vicious cycle. Getting her carpets cleaned thoroughly and regularly gets rid of these pollutants in her carpet.

Explain that her carpet’s health can affect her and her family’s health. Just like she tracks in dirt from the outside, she also tracks in car exhaust, cigarette smoke, asphalt, chemicals, dust, germs, pollens, tar, soot and many others. These pollutants get lodged into her carpet just like dirt.
COSTLY MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT CARPET CLEANING
MISCONCEPTION #1: You should wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet.
No. Dir t is an abrasive-like sandpaper. Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibers. This cuts your carpet, just as if you had used a knife. A dirty carpet will not last as long as a clean carpet. And while vacuuming helps–by itself, it’s simply not enough. The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to your carpet and the faster it wears out.
MISCONCEPTION #2: The only reason to clean carpets is to remove the dirt.
No. As you probably know, outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette smoke, car exhaust – and hundreds of other chemicals. When you come into your home, you carry those pollens, bacteria and chemicals in your hair and on your skin, clothing and shoes. Not surprisingly, all those chemicals and toxins wind up in your carpet.
If you have allergies, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems – one major source of your problem could be the pollens, fungus, smoke and chemicals in your carpet.
